There are many video on demand (VOD) adult sites available now but there is one that stands out amongst the crowd boasting over 32,000 movies from 750 studios. Yappo delivers on its promise with a huge library of titles from studios such as Elegant Angel, Wicked, New Sensations, Pink Visual, Legend and many others.
Signing up and buying minutes is all made as simple as can possibly be and finding the content you want is made easy by the amount of options available. The main area of the front page shows the featured DVDs of the week, the right sidebar lists the most popular DVDs, top studios and new releases while the left sidebar offers several search options that let you find what you want via text search or by a dropdown of stars, studios and genres. And when you click on a DVD you'll get recommendations for similar titles.
The video options are extensive with 5 different qualities available for streaming - Dialup, DSL, Broadband, T1 and High Definition - available in chunks of the movie or playing the whole movie. There's also the option to download the video with a license to watch it as many times as you like for 7 days (usually $7.95) or 1 month (usually $14.95). Having the DVDs split into chunks gives easy access to certain parts of the film so you can skip straight to your favourite star or skip scene introductions in order to get straight to the action.
The price for streaming is very good with the cost working out at pennies per minute but the download prices seem a little too much because for instance if you want to download
Barely Legal 62 for 30 days it will cost you $14.95 and at the end of the 30 days that's it whereas for a few dollars more you can buy the DVD which you have forever at perfect quality to watch any time you would like. You're paying for the convenience but considering you lose it after 7 or 30 days it seems quite a high price. The downloads use the widely unpopular Digital Rights Management (DRM) to enforce this so you will also have to play it within Windows Media Player although there are instructions on the site about how you can show the videos on your television.
I did encounter a small problem while checking out Yappo, although it should be noted before I explain that this was not Yappo's fault but because of a problem with my installation of Windows Media Player. Initially I was getting a scrambled picture and each time I tried (at different speed settings) it cut off a minute just for buffering which should be a warning to anyone that signs up to make sure your copy of WMP is working okay and that you don't choose a bitrate above your internet connection to make sure you don't waste any minutes without actually using them.
The quality of the video at the highest resolution is excellent with some videos being as high as 800x600 resolution at 2.2mbps bitrate which is as close to DVD quality as you are going to get. If you have a connection fast enough to handle the HQ bitrate then it's well worth the cost but even if you go as low as the DSL bitrate, the quality is still very good. Dialup bitrate is obviously poor in both quality and size as it is designed for slow speeds.
In terms of the extent of their content it's difficult to argue against with over 32,000 movies from 750 studios - It means there's a lot more content than the majority of its competitors. For instance if you're looking for scenes of Jaylynn Sins you're better off opting for Yappo as they have 8 scenes of hers whereas Videobox have none and as another example with Lela Star; Videobox have just 1 scene compared to Yappo who have over 20 DVDs that feature Lela Star. However there's the fact that Videobox allow you to download and keep the scenes.
As a VOD service Yappo is excellent, there's tens of thousands of DVDs worth of content on the site and no matter who your favourite star is or what your favourite genre is you're bound to find it on Yappo. In some areas it is slightly better than download services such as the excellent Videobox purely due to the more widespread content. However, while the price to stream seems good, to download is in my opinion way overpriced due to the fact you are so limited, not just to day but what you can do with it due to the DRM restrictions. If you only want to watch online and/or for the convenience of it then Yappo is great but if you want to keep what you pay for there are better video sites and DVD's which work out better value for money.
